Track 1: Original version appears on Wolves & Wishes - "This is something my son Naoise, (nee-sha) says all the time; his all-purpose response to just about any question. This song was the seed for Wolves and Wishes. All the other tunes that ended up on the record had to somehow jive with this one. All of it was recorded in my basement in a few days."
Track 2: Original version appears on Wolves & Wishes - "I borrowed this title from a line of a poem that Sun Ra wrote in honor of the first man on the moon. The main drone for this piece is something I have been working on for over three years. When I came up with the chords on guitar, mid-way through working on Wolves and Wishes, I knew it was almost done."
Track 3: Original version appears on Wolves & Wishes - This tune is sort of the younger, more unruly younger brother of 'Circles and Squares' (which was on The Lost Take). Same bpm, same type of beat, but the sections stack up much differently. The inspiration for working on this tune was sitting and listening to the dueling bass lines, and the strange harmonies they created.
Track 4: Original version appears on The Lost Take - "This is a song that Mike and I enjoy playing live, and for whatever reason, we felt like playing it at Daytrotter. The audio is from a play I was in in 1984 called 'Peace Child.' My mom taped it (it was a musical about the Cold War) and gave me the tape in 2005. I've used lots of audio on it on various recordings."
