These songs were recorded live to mini-disc.

'Sweet Dreams Beautiful Soul', Dixon Street', 'Bonds That Tie Can Break You' and 'Shasta Daisy' were recorded in front of a live (and lovely) audience at the Ellice Palace in Wellington. 'Pretty Things' was recorded in the same space the next day. 'She Praises Me', 'Rude Distraction', 'Spin Silver' and 'All I Can Do' were recorded inside, and the rest of the tunes outside Tess' house in Stephine Bay, evidence of which can be heard in the background: crickets, tui, wind, and the sea.
