Publication of the Unité Propre de Recherche 165 of the CNRS and the Départment d'ethnomusicologie, Laboratoire d'Ethnologie of the Musée de l'Homme, Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris.

The recordings were made in August 1976 by Mireille Helffer, assisted by Michel Guillaume, during a mission of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique. The field-work was undertaken with the kind support of the Venerable Rtogs-Idan Rin-po-che and of the Academy of Arts, Culture and Languages of Ladakh, and in cooperation with the lama Dpal-Idan and Helena Norberg-Hodge.

The CD comes with a 32-page booklet (French/English).
