Following their 1988 reunion concert at The Town and Country Club in London and farewell shows in the USA, The Damned featuring their original line-up of Dave Vanian, Captain Sensible, Brian James and Rat Scabies, together with later bass player Paul Gray embarked on their December 1989 'Really Must Be Going Now' farewell UK tour, playing a set from their seminal debut LP Damned Damned Damned and Machine Gun Etiquette.

The Damned, always a terrific 'live’ band announced in the music press that fans attending these shows were welcome to record or film them. The cameraman who filmed this show in Liverpool was actually given an Access All Areas pass and allowed by the management of the venue to film it from the Royal Box.

Nearly thirty years later a version of The Damned are still recording and performing. To celebrate the 40th Anniversary release of Damned Damned Damned, here for the first time direct from the original master video tape is the full Liverpool show.
This release is a very limited edition, rarer than hen’s teeth, grab a copy while you can!

The DVD begins with shots of Captain Sensible chatting to the merchadise vendor and a group of fans, whilst the audience begin chanting “Sensible’s a Wanker”. True to form he then walks on stage clutching a plastic Dildo.

Before the 1st encore he appears on-stage with ‘Bev’, who initially could be described as an over zealous St John’s ambulance woman, she pleads that the crowd stop pushing as some people might get crushed. This was the year of the Hillsborough disaster let’s not forget, she mean’t well and the crowd give her a cheer, but this was a Damned show and the band then launch into a great version of Day Tripper!

This WAS the last time the original line-up featuring Brian James played Liverpool and after the band ran through pretty much the whole Damned Damned LP, Paul Grey who played on The Black Album and Strawberries replaces him on stage as they run through some of The Machine Gun Etiquette LP before all five are on stage for the encores.

As this was one of the last reunion performances of the original line-up of The Damned this DVD release has been timed to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the band's seminal debut LP Damned Damned Damned. At the time the cameraman was a film student and a fan of the band. He went on to become a music video and documentary TV director for ITV, the BBC and Channel 4 and once worked with the late John Peel. The recording is therefore a unique fan document of a show, which the band invited and welcomed as part of their supposed 'farewell' gigs in 1989. The Access All Areas pass pictured on the DVD sleeve was issued to the cameraman by the band, who was then allowed by the management of the venue to film it from the Royal Box.

This DVD is non-region coded NTSC and should play on any DVD player worldwide, be it NTSC, or PAL. Owners of SECAM DVD players, most common in France should check for playback compatibility.
